Halfway through summer

We’ve spent every Thursday at the lake…that’s the one thing that we have done every week since the summer temps hit us…even went once when the temps were mild, we’re that dedicated. It doesn’t quite feel like the middle of summer, but at the same time, it does. We have the fair looming just around the corner. Then vacation after that, and school follows just a few weeks after. It feels like summer starts so slowly and then, about halfway through, it speeds up out of nowhere. It’s full throttle until school, and then the strict daily rhythms are here again before we know it. I wish we could stretch the ho-hum of the beginning just a bit longer. I have finally caught my stride. I am reorganizing and making space for fall, yet enjoying the simplicity of not having to leave the house. Also, the kids seem to grow up so much during the summer. I’m excited for them, yet it still breaks my heart a little too. I guess what I’m trying to say is why does time have to move so darn fast???
